As we all have been waiting for the launch of 20th Century Fox World in Genting Highlands, a bad news have just swooshed in.
On 26th November 2018 (Monday), Walt Disney Co and Twenty-First Century Fox Inc were sued for more than US$1 billion on Monday by casino operator Genting Malaysia Bhd for abandoning a contract related to its planned construction of the first-fox branded theme park.
The reason Disney is terminating the contract is because associating with a gaming company does not fit their ‘family-friendly’ brand strategy. As for that, Disney calls the shot to end the contract.
It was said by Genting that it had already invested $750 million-plus into Fox World and it is also seeking punitive damages.
What a tragic news for all of us Malaysian who are awaiting for the opening of the theme park.
